Anchors Aweigh At Fox Business Network

Fox News Channel Spinoff Taps Varney, Gomez As Members Of On-Air Team

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 9/12/2007 10:57:00 AM

Fox Business Network, slated to take on CNBC and Bloomberg TV when it launches in some 31 million homes Oct. 15, bolstered its on-air ranks today, naming five anchors who also will continue to work on sister service, Fox News Channel.

David Asman, Cheryl Casone, Rebecca Gomez, Dagen McDowell and Stuart Varney are now part of the FBN team that also includes Fox News executive vice president Kevin Magee, senior vice president and managing editor of business news Neil Cavuto and director of business news Alexis Glick.

In addition, FBN, which has yet to disclose its programming lineup, will also feature Brenda Buttner of FNC’s Bulls and Bears and Terry Keenan, business correspondent and anchor of the cable news leader’s Cashin’ In. All of the on-air talent mentioned will appear on both services.

Asman, currently the host of Forbes on Fox, has been with FNC since 1997, when he joined as weekday anchor for Fox News Live. Before that Asman held various roles at The Wall Street Journal, including editorial features editor.

Casone has been a correspondent for FNC’s business unit since November 2006, providing hourly market updates for FoxNews.com and partner site Yahoo! Finance.  Before joining FNC, she was a freelance business correspondent for CNN, focused largely on the New York Stock Exchange.

A member of FNC since its launch, Gomez works as a business correspondent who appears regularly on Your World with Neil Cavuto and the Cost of Freedom business block on Saturdays.

McDowell has served as a business correspondent for FNC since 2003, appearing regularly on Your World with Neil Cavuto and Cashin’ In.  He previously authored a personal finance column for TheStreet.com called “Dear Dagen.”

Varney has been part of FNC’s business team since 2004, most recently as a contributor and substitute host for Your World with Neil Cavuto.  Before joining FNC, he hosted CNBC’s Wall Street Editorial Board with Stuart Varney.
