FiOS TV Live in Seven More NYC Suburbs

Verizon Offers Video Service in More than 120 New York Communities

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 9/25/2007 4:26:00 AM

Verizon Communications kept up the push into New York City’s suburbs – and put more heat on Cablevision Systems – announcing that it is now taking orders for FiOS TV in seven additional New York communities.

The telephone company’s TV service is available in parts of the Westchester County communities of New Rochelle and Cortlandt; in the Rockland County villages of Haverstraw and Suffern; and in Long Island’s Garden City, Poquott and Nissequogue. Cablevision is the incumbent cable provider in each of those towns.

Verizon offers FiOS TV service in more than 120 communities in New York state. The company also noted that it recently was granted franchises by the towns of Peekskill and East Williston.

Verizon is promoting a Web site, to let consumers check FiOS TV availability in their area or to request that Verizon contact them when service becomes available. The site advertises triple-play bundles for between $94.99 and $114.99 per month; the rate varies by state and whether customers sign up for one- or two-year contract agreements.
