Sci Fi Greenlights Series Renewals

New Seasons Of Eureka, Destination Truth Will Land In 2008

 Sci Fi Channel has ordered a third season of Eurekaand a second season of Destination Truth.

Sci Fi has okayed a third, 13-episode season of Eureka, its most-watched original series. Production is slated to begin early next year in Vancouver on the show centering on the Pacific Northwest community where the government has stashed some of the world’s brightest minds for top-secret research projects. The series, whose 13 premiere episode airings matched its first-season averages of 2.5 total viewers and 1.4 million adult 25-to-54 watchers, is slated to return next summer.

In the second season of Destination Truth, also set for 2008, adventurer and truth-seeker Josh Gates, over the course of six episodes. will once again take viewers off the map in his search for answers to some the world’s most notorious unexplained mysteries. Network officials said Destination Truth’s Dec. 6 premiere marked the network’s highest-rated alternative series debut since Ghost Hunters in 2004. Destination Truth averaged 1.36 million total viewers, 774,000 of whom were adults 25 to 54, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

“Eureka rose to an even higher creative level in its sophomore season, combining entertaining, compelling stories with deeper character development and great cast chemistry. And clearly the audience noticed, bringing millions of new viewers to the Channel,” said Sci Fi executive vice president of original programming in a statement.

“Destination Truth with Josh Gates proved to be a great addition to our Wednesday night lineup and the perfect companion piece for Ghost Hunters.”
