Disney In Concert With Jonas Brothers

New York — Jonas Brothers can continue tween-targeted Disney Channel’s run of successful series when they star in a new comedy/spy show dubbed J.O.N.A.S in 2008.

The series, scheduled to begin production early next year, is one of several on-screen projects the three brothers — 19-year-old Kevin, 18-year-old Joseph and 15-year-old Nick — will develop for Disney, according to Disney Channel Worldwide president of entertainment Gary Marsh.

The Jonas Brothers, whose self-titled debut album is currently number 25 on the Billboard Charts, will also star in Camp Rock, a Disney Channel original musical movie that is in production and scheduled for a 2008 debut. More immediate is a special, Jonas Brothers in Concert, originating from New York and slated to premiere Oct. 6.

Disney is hoping the Jonas Brothers will sing the same successful ratings tune on the network that other music-themed series and movies like Hannah Montana, The Cheetah Girls and High School Musical have in recent years.

The network also announced it will air its two phenomenally successful High School Musical films — as well as the HSM2 Sing-Along version — on the American Forces Network Oct. 5.

Versus Launches Candidates VOD

New YorkVersus has formed a strategic partnership with The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation to launch a video-on-demand platform in December for the 2008 presidential candidates to discuss outdoors issues.

Candidates on Demand aspires to put a spotlight on U.S. presidential hopefuls and their views on relevant subjects via a one-on-one question-and-answer session that will be available on Versus.com and Versus on Demand, beginning Dec. 13.

A spokeswoman for the Comcast-owned service said the network and The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation have just begun to reach out to the candidates’ camps to see if and when they will participate.

Versus and CSF will pose eight to 10 questions on key topics that affect hunting and fishing. The topics could include access for hunting and fishing, energy, marine protected areas, wilderness areas and conservation tax easements, according to Versus officials.
