Fox News Dominates News Ratings

Network Leads All-News Rivals for 23 Consecutive Quarters

Fox News Channel was the top-rated all-news channel during the third quarter, marking the 23rd consecutive quarter that Fox topped rivals CNN and MSNBC.

The third quarter also marked six years that The O’Reilly Factor was the No. 1 news program in primetime, averaging 2.03 million viewers.

Also in the top five were Fox News Channel’s Hannity & Colmes (1.45 million viewers), The Fox Report with Shepard Smith (1.3 million); and Special Report with Brit Hume (1.2 million).

MSNBC posted the most growth in primetime, averaging 518,000 total viewers, up 42% from the third quarter of 2006.

Fox News led the all-news networks in primetime, averaging 1.38 million total viewers, down 6 percent. CNN averaged 792,000 viewers, down 7% from this time last year.

In the adults 25 to 54 demographic, FNC led with 313,000 viewers in primetime, down 17% from the third quarter of 2006. MSNBC pulled 206,000 viewers in the demo, up 34%, while CNN dropped 9% to 252,000 viewers in the demo.
