VH1 Scores With Celebrity Reality Shows

‘The Salt-N-Pepa Show’ and ‘Gotti’s Way’d Start Strong

VH1’s Oct. 15 celebrity reality programming block proved to be a viable viewing alternative to ESPN’s New York Giants-Atlanta Falcons Monday Night Football game.

The network’s premiere of two reality shows, The Salt-N-Pepa Show and Gotti’s Way, along with a new episode of I Love New York, averaged 2.3 million viewers during the time block, according to VH1.

The 9 p.m. debut of The Salt-n-Pepa Show, which follows the exploits of the popular 1980s female rap group, drew 2.2 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating in the network’s 18-49 demo, according to the network.

Gotti’s Way, which follows Irv Gotti’s efforts to resurrect his record label after being acquitted of money laundering charges in 2004, drew                                                                                                                                                                                       1.6 million viewers and a 1.0 within the 18-49 demo at 1 0 p.m. 

Preceding both shows at 8 p.m. was the second episode of the sophomore series and Flavor Of Love spinoff I Love New York, which drew the best numbers of the night for the network with 3.2 million viewers.

Meanwhile, ESPN’s Giants-Falcons game drew 8.4 million viewers and a 6.46 household rating, it’s lowest viewed Monday Night Football contest ever. The previous lous was was ESPN’s Sept. 10 San Francisco 49’ers-Arizona Cardinals contest, which tacked a 6.9 rating and 8.5 million viewers.

The game was still the most viewed show for the night among cable networks and beat all broadcast and cable shows among key male demos 18-49, 18-34 and 25 to 54, according to ESPN.
