Oxygen Debuts Second Web-Only Series

Women’s Net To Premiere Episodes As Companion To Third ‘Dickinson’ Season

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/22/2007 6:36:00 AM

Oxygen will launch its second Web-only series, a companion project to its The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency show, come December.

Abbey & Janice: Beauty & The Best will premiere on SheDidWhat.tv, the network’s broadband channel. Dec. 4, the same night the third season of Dickinson’s series makes its linear premiere on Oxyen. Our Bodies: Myself, the network’s first online series, bowed in January.

The online show, produced by Whizz Kid Productions, follows supermodel Janice Dickinson and Britain’s Next Top Model runner-up Abbey Clancy as she proves she’s got the guts, the drive and the steely determination to make it in the fashion industry. To give Clancy a leg up, Dickinson will mentor Abbey in all aspects of the trade and share her acumen about what it takes to makes it as a top model. Over the six Webisodes, Dickinson spends two weeks with Clancy in her hometown of Liverpool and in London, before jumping the Pond for a month of castings and meetings in Los Angeles.

“Janice is one of Oxygen’s over-the-top female characters, and she really fits into the Oxygen brand. Her show performs very well for us, so we jumped at the chance to work with her again in a different capacity,” said Debby Beece, president of programming and marketing at Oxygen, in a statement. “The Web is fast becoming a popular platform for original programming, and this is a great opportunity for us to attract more viewers to our broadband channel.”

Oxygen is being purchased by NBC Universal for $925 million. The transaction is expected to be completed before year's end.
