Fox News Promotes Cheatwood

Senior Vice President Of Development Duties Also Extend To Business Channel

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/23/2007 7:17:00 AM

Fox News has elevated Joel Cheatwood to senior vice president of development.

Cheatwood, whose duties also extend to Fox News Channel’s sister service, the recently launched Fox Business Network, joined Fox News last spring as vice president.

Prior to his arrival, Cheatwood had worked since April 2004 as the executive director of program and talent development at CNN, where he created and launched both Glenn Beck’s program and Showbiz Tonight for Headline News. He also oversaw the launch of Nancy Grace on the service.

Before serving at CNN, he was the executive vice president at CBS Television Stations, where he managed all news and promotion for the owned-and-operated stations. Cheatwood’s career also includes stints in local news as the station manager at KYW-TV (CBS affiliate) in Philadelphia; vice president of news and promotion at WMAQ-TV (NBC) in Chicago; and six years as the senior vice president at Sunbeam Television where he was responsible for both news and promotion at WHDH-TV (NBC) in Boston and WSVN-TV (Fox) in Miami. While at Sunbeam, he also developed and oversaw two nationally syndicated magazines, Inside Report and Real Life.

“Joel has already made a tremendous contribution to FOX News and I’m confident he will continue to be a valuable asset to the organization,” said Roger Ailes, chairman and CEO of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, and chairman of Fox Television Stations, in a statement.
