NCTA Funds California Disaster Relief

Cable Hope Fund Accepting Donations From Cable Industry Companies

By Multichannel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/28/2007 6:33:00 PM MT

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association said it is raising funds to support victims of the California wildfires through its Cable Hope Fund.

NCTA established the Cable Hope Fund after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The fund has supported families left homeless by the Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, including cable employees impacted by the storms.

NCTA said Friday that the Cable Hope Fund is accepting donations from cable industry companies, organizations and individuals to support those affected by the wildfires in California. Funds collected will be contributed to charities supporting the work of first responders and relief agencies in the disaster area and to organizations that will assist in rebuilding efforts.

“Cable operators and networks have a strong presence in southern California, and some employees and their families unfortunately have been directly affected by this disaster,” David Pierce, executive director of the Cable Hope Fund and vice President, public affairs, NCTA, said in Friday’s announcement.

NCTA said contributions for southern California disaster relief can be made in the form of checks made out to Cable Hope Fund, and sent to the Fund care of NCTA at 25 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Suite 100, Washington, D.C. 0001, or electronically via credit card through the Cable Hope Fund Web site, www.CableHopeFund.org.
