The sweeping four-hour documentary about the threats to the world’s environment,Planet in Peril took viewers to places where environmental change is not a theory or just a future forecast, but a crisis happening in real time. CNN anchor Anderson Cooperchief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Corwin focused on four main issues that threaten the planet and its inhabitants: climate change, deforestation, species loss and overpopulation.
"Collaborating with CNN and sharing the talent of Jeff Corwin is a win-win for both networks that are so passionate about communicating the critical environmental and conservation message,” Marjorie Kaplan, president and general manager of Animal Planet and Discovery Kids Media, said in a statement. “Animal Planet viewers are keen to see how environmental issues affect the world around us – including wildlife. More importantly, they want to get involved and make a difference.”
