Retirement Living TV, the network dedicated to people 55 and older, has lined up broadcast-journalism icon Walter Cronkite as a contributor, officials said Thursday.

Cronkite’s weekly editorials will air on Daily Café, a live two-hour program anchored daily from Washington, and hosted by former CNN anchors Felicia Taylor and Bobbie Battista.

His “Cronkite Commentaries” will premiere Nov. 20, with a special introduction from CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric.

“I am impressed with Retirement Living TV’s mission to serve America’s seniors with programming that is intelligent and informational. I look forward to sharing my insights about our nation’s top stories with the Daily Café audience,” Cronkite said in a prepared statement.

For almost two decades, Cronkite served as anchorman and managing editor for the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. He was America’s eyewitness to the major stories of the twentieth century including the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy, the Vietnam War, the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the Watergate scandal.

On Retirement Living TV. Cronkite will share his perspective on today’s events, focusing on issues at home and abroad such as politics, education, healthcare, foreign policy and the environment.

In the coming weeks ‘Cronkite Commentaries’ will look at the presidential primaries, for which Cronkite offers this observation - “make no mistake, it’s a game all right. I call it ‘The Primary Hopscotch’”. He also declares a “growing polarization” and states that a “win at any price philosophy” is now in place.

The upcoming political party conventions are the next to be addressed. “You can blame or credit the Democratic National Committee for the system we have today,” says Cronkite. Other covered topics include environmental issues such as global warming and water consumption.
