Cox Hits Commercial Milestone

Cable TV Operator Exceeds 200,000 Business Customer Mark

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 12/3/2007 5:40:00 AM

Boasting that it leads all cable TV operators in commercial subscribers, Cox Communications said it has exceeded 200,000 business customers.

Cox said it was able to hit the milestone by expanding voice service to all of its cable systems, making it the seventh largest telecom provider in the United States.

Last month, in a bid to sell more products to small, mid-sized and large businesses, Cox launched an IP telephone platform that integrates the desktop phone, PC and wireless devices.

Its Cox Business VoiceManager is available in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Cox said it plans to aggressively expand the service to additional Cox markets through the end of this year and in 2008.

Cox formally launched its commercial division in 20000, and first exceeded 100,000 customers in 2003.
