Travel Channel on-air personality Forrest Sawyer was injured late last week in a helicopter crash in Tanzania while filming a segment for the network’s Presidential Tour series, according to the network.
Travel Channel President Pat Younge in a statement said Sawyer and most members of his production crew involved in the crash are safe and with their families. One show producer remains hospitalized in Johannesburg, South Africa receiving medical treatment for a broken hip suffered in the crash.
The pilot also received injuries, and was airlifted to Nairobi, Kenya for treatment, according to Younge.
Travel Channel’s quarterly Presidential Tour series explores countries around the world, often through the eyes of the country’s president.
“The Travel Channel would like to recognize the individual acts of heroism of the production crew and Forrest Sawyer, who helped get all the passengers out of the helicopter and safely to shore,” said Younge in a statement. “Additionally, we thank the Masai people who assisted the crew members on shore following the accident.”

When I was a very young man, Forrest used to babysit me, and he used to tell great bedtime limericks and poems. This one was my favorite:
My name is Fred Franackerpan
I am a curious man
I keep one hand dipped in gruel
And one hand dipped in jam
My name is Fred Franackerpan
I walk about the town
Sometimes with my trousers up
And sometimes with them down
And when they were up they were up
And when they were down they were down
And when they were only halfway up
He got arrested

I used to love Forrest Sawyer when he was that bumbling guy on the show F Troop! I always thought that Larry Storch was creepy but funnier though. But what kind of a name is Captain Parmenter anyway? Get well, buster, your fans await you Stateside!

I hope no one needed blood after the accident. Africa does not have the resourses to check for aids.
Some people that travel to Africa carry their on blood
in case it is needed.
I pray all of the people on the helicopter are okay.
