Kids Network Will Air Series' Final Season, Despite Star's Pregnancy

Nickelodeon has no plans to pull the February debut of Zoey 101’s fourth season despite the controversial real-life pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Spears, the show’s 16-year-old star, according to network executives.
On the eve of the show’s third-season finale (Jan. 4), Nickelodeon executive vice president of corporate communications Dan Martinsen said Thursday that the network has not changed its plans to premiere next month the fourth and final season of Zoey 101, which the kids-targeted service has already taped.
The airing of the show’s last season, in which Spears plays a level-headed teen attending boarding school, came into question after Spears revealed on Dec. 19 in tabloid OK! Magazine that she was expecting a child.
Since the revelation, several publications, including The Tampa Tribune have called for Nickelodeon to shelve the show due to the negative influence Spears’ pregnancy could have on the show’s impressionable tween-targeted audience.
Martinsen would not comment on whether the network has received complaints from concerned parents or kids about the show, which has remained on the air despite the controversy.
Nickelodeon said episodes of the show have continued to average 2 million viewers since news of Spears’s pregnancy.

Although I do not "judge" Jamie Lynn... I hold her accountable... and the same is true for Nickolodeon. I am appalled at their decision to continue the show. The network is putting profit above the well-being of our impressionable children. I strongly believe that we will be sending the wrong message if Zoey 101 continues with its 4th season. I am taking a stand and my children understand the importance of it. Although they love the Zoey 101 show...they will not be watching it anymore. In fact, we as a family, will be boycotting Nickolodeon altogether as long as Zoey 101 remains on the air. Anyone else willing to stand for morality and the wellbeing of our children? Join us!!

i watch the show i think they should show the show anyways and start taping after she has her baby its a good show just because she makes a mistake doesnt mean the viewers should be done wrong

Hi i watch zoey 101 every chance i get. It is a great show i love it. Yes she my be pregnat. If the fourth season has already been taped show them and start filming the agian after she has her baby. Please i am one of the two million people whom still watch zoey 101.

Once again another programmer does not take a stand on morality and teaching our kids that some things are just plan wrong and shoud not be condoned for the sake of market share.Is there any line you will ever draw?
