Brown Is Back On Food's Menu

Network Extends 'Good Eats' Guy With Three-Year Pact

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 1/6/2008 1:56:00 AM

Food Network has inked a three-year deal with Alton Brown, marking its third contract renewal with key network talent in the last two months.

Brown, under his new deal, terms of which were not disclosed, in 2008 will produce new seasons of his signature series Good Eats and Iron Chef, plus a number of specials.

Moreover, he will add to the menu of limited series Feasting on Asphalt, with Feasting on Waves, which will showcase Brown on the road in the Caribbean, where he will explore the people, culture and food. The journey is expected to take him to mom and pop restaurants and food stands, and segments on boats and diving expeditions, wherever there are interesting edibles, according to the network.

"We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Alton and look forward to creating compelling programs with him," said Food president Brooke Johnson in a statement. "Good Eats launched in 1999, its popularity and that of Alton is a testament to the creativity and longevity of our talent and programming."

In late November, Food renewed its deal with Emeril Lagasse and last month concluded negotiations with Rachael Ray, ensuring that its key talent will remain with the network, albeit in somewhat different roles.
