The Writers Guild of America West has cancelled its own Los Angeles-based Feb. 9 awards show, due to its strike, the union said Thursday.
In a brief statement, the WGA West said that it will be will be announcing the 2008 Writers Guild Awards winners Feb. 9, but that “there will be no Writers Guild of America, West show until the strike is over.”
The WGA East hasn’t made a decision yet on the New York City-based WGA show, and is exploring its options, a spokesman for the union said.
The WGA has been on strike since Nov. 5 against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
