IFC Raises Curtain On Festival Direct

On-Demand Platform Presents Five Titles That Debuted At International Festivals

IFC Entertainment will make a limited number of IFC Films that have premiered at major international festivals available to cable operator’s on-demand platforms.

Beginning Feb. 29, Festival Direct will be available throughout the nation for exclusive on-demand presentations by systems owned by Comcast Corp., Charter Communications, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and IFC parent, Cablevision Systems.

IFC Entertainment’s Festival Direct will debut in a special movie section within each cable system’s on-demand offering. Subscribers visiting the Festival Direct VOD section will be able to choose from five movies that have premiered at such prestigious film festivals as Cannes, Toronto, Tribeca, Venice and Telluride.

The titles that will be available at a retail price of $5.99: It’s a Free World, Jar City, Puffball, Beautiful Ohio and Good Time Max.

“For more than ten years, IFC has provided independent filmmakers with a strong voice and has helped to expand the audience for independent film,” said Jonathan Sehring, president of IFC Entertainment in a statement. “Festival Direct extends our commitment to serve the independent community by recognizing these true independent films and delivering them to an audience beyond the entertainment industry and festival regulars, an audience that otherwise may never have the chance to enjoy these special films.”

Festival Direct supplements the IFC In Theaters brand that encompasses films launching simultaneously in theaters and on-demand.
