Cablevision Systems Corp. is upgrading the free online security services the company makes available to its Optimum Online customers.
The New York metro area provider is offering CA’s Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 as a value-added benefit to its Optimum Online customer base. The software, downloadable immediately through the Optimum.net consumer Web portal, is designed to help protect against the growing number of online threats that can jeopardize privacy and diminish PC performance.
The security software package, which has a retail value of $69.99, provides users with comprehensive Internet security and data protection, including anti-virus, anti-spyware, personal firewall, anti-spam, anti-phishing and parental controls, as well as data backup and transfer capabilities. The suite provides advanced protection from viruses, hackers, spyware and spam while ensuring important files, photos, music and PC settings are safe and conveniently backed-up should they need to be restored or transferred to a new PC.
“In addition to giving our Optimum Online customers the ability to go really fast on the Internet, we want to make sure they have the tools at their disposal to go safe as well,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision senior vice president of product management John Trierweiler in a statement. “The addition of this enhanced Internet security suite from CA is yet another value-added benefit for Cablevision customers that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and providing the best possible high-speed Internet experience.”

Cablevision has always provided their internet security suite for free to customers--it's not in response to any competitor. And 15mb download speeds (up to 30mb with Boost)is very comparable to fios. And why is someone from San Jose commenting about Cablevision--you just wish you could get Optimum service out there!
