FSN South has reached a contract extension to continue to televise the games of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes.
The multiyear pact, financial terms of which were not disclosed, makes FSN South the exclusive local TV rights-holder for the Hurricanes. Under the contract, which sources put at a minimum of five years, the regional sports network will air 65 of the squad’s contests per season, plus a post-game show for each. That’s up from 55 under the current pact, which expires after the conclusion of the 2007-08 NHL season.
“The Carolina Hurricanes are a consistent contender in the National Hockey League, and we are proud to continue our partnership with this successful franchise,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South and SportSouth, in a statement. “FSN South is committed to being the region’s premier destination for sports fans to watch their local teams, and our agreement with the Hurricanes reinforces that commitment throughout the Carolinas.”
FSN South counts some 12 million subscribers in seven southeastern states
