Cedar Point CEO Departs

VoIP Software Provider Replaces Paff With Board Member Hockmeier

Cedar Point Communications said Wednesday that president and CEO Andy Paff has left the company.

Andy PaffThe Derry, N.H.-based provider of voice-over-IP switching platforms appointed board member Curt Hockemeier as interim CEO while it initiates a search for a permanent replacement.

“Andy’s made a decision to leave the company to pursue personal interests,” Cedar Point director of marketing Jim Gayton said.

Paff could not be reached for comment.

Cedar Point hired Paff in December 2003. He previously was chief technology officer at Broadband Services and held senior positions with Antec (now part of Arris) and Worldbridge Broadband Services.

Hockemeier is the former president and CEO of Arbinet-thexchange, an electronic exchangeCurt Hockemeier for telecommunications services. He has been a member of Cedar Point’s board for five years.

“Curt has the background and experience to continue to drive the company forward,” Bruce Sachs, Charles River Ventures general partner and Cedar Point board member, said in a statement. “I also want to thank Andy for his many contributions to the company.”

Cedar Point’s customers include Comcast, Charter Communications, Insight Communications, Bresnan Communications, RCN and MetroCast Cablevision, as well as competitive local exchange carriers and universities. The company says operators use its switches to offer voice-over-IP service to 4 million households worldwide.

Cedar Point said it has raised $85 million in financing from investors including Ascent Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, Charles River Ventures, Comcast Interactive Capital, Focus Ventures, J.P. Morgan and Star Ventures.
