Not Many Viewers On HBO's Couch For ‘In Treatment’
Premium Network’s Psychiatrist Drama Premier Draws Half Of ‘Love Me’ Debut

Home Box Office executives aren’t seeking therapy yet, despite the fact that the network’s psychiatrist drama In Treatment drew only 446,000 viewers for its Jan. 28 debut.
The show, which over consecutive weeknights chronicles the therapy sessions between
four patients and a psychiatrist played by Gabriel Byrne (Vanity Fair) -- as well as the shrink's own psychoanalysis with a therapist -- fell well short of the 910,000 viewers HBO’s last original series, Tell Me You Love Me drew in its September debut, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
But HBO executives expect the show’s unique scheduling -- with original episodes debuting each weeknight, as well as repeat airings over the weekend -- should build strong, weekly audience cumes for the 45-episode series.
In addition, the show will get heavy exposure on numerous other platforms. Every Monday, each of the week’s five episodes will be available for view on HBO’s On Demand service prior to fresh airings on the linear channel. Also, the first five episodes of the series are currently available as a free podcast download on iTunes.
