COO Brooks Leaves Broadstripe

Last Of Founding Execs Leaves Former Millennium Digital Media

By Kent Gibbons -- Multichannel News, 2/5/2008 4:30:00 PM

John Brooks, one of the St. Louis-based executives who founded cable operator Millennium Digital Media in 1997, has resigned as chief operating officer at the company now called Broadstripe.
The cable firm said Brooks resigned to pursue other business opportunities and personal interests. Broadstripe CEO Bill Shreffler commended Brooks in a release for “invaluable insight” he provided and thanked him for “his years of outstanding service on behalf of the company.”
Brooks, who also co-founded telecommunications provider Brooks Fiber Properties in the mid-1990s, joined two former Charter Communications executives (Kelvin Westbrook and Jeff Sanders) and a former SBC executive (Chuck Payer)

in creating Millennium Digital Media

as a cable acquirer. The firm’s first buy was a competitive cable situation – overbuild – in Maryland.  It now has about 120,000 customers in Maryland, Michigan, Washington and Oregon.
Sanders and Payer left several years ago but

Westbrook remained until he left in September 2007

.
Shreffler, also a former Charter executive, came in as CEO in fall 2006. Since then the company has changed its name and

agreed to acquire about 50,000 subscribers from James Cable

. It is still based in St. Louis.
