Ion Contracts With 'Boston Legal'
Twentieth Television's Lawyer Comedy Is Network’s Latest Syndication Acquisition

The syndication ramping up by Ion Media Networks, Inc. continued apace as the company reached a deal for its Ion Television service to begin airing Boston Legal this fall.
Under the deal with Twentieth Television, Ion Television has secured the rights to the first four seasons of the David Kelly series, which made its ABC premiere on Oct. 3, 2004, and plans to air it in primetime.
Fast-paced and wildly comedic, the series confronts social and moral issues, while its characters continually stretch the boundaries of the law.
“Boston Legal will be to Ion Television what Denny Crane is to Crane, Poole & Schmidt – bold, outrageous and positively entertaining,” said Ion Media Networks chairman and CEO Brandon Burgess in a statement. “Smart writing, with humor and heart, and an all-star cast, including James Spader, Candice Bergen and William Shatner, makes this one of the best shows on television. We are excited to bring Boston Legal to millions of fans on the Ion Television Network starting this fall.”
That’s when Ion will also add venerable war sitcom M*A*S*H.
Beginning March 3, Ion will also begin stripping Baywatch Mondays through Thursdays in the 10 p.m. hour.
The Drew Carey show was added to the network’s lineup with a New Year’s marathon and now airs back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays.
