As college basketball’s March Madness approaches, CBS College Sports Network (formerly CSTV) and ESPNU said today they've been added to cable systems in Southern California and Central Florida, respectively.
CBS College Sports Network got added to Charter Communications’ Digital Sports View tier (channel 399 or 411) in Glendale/Burbank, Whittier, the San Gabriel Valley, Long Beach, Malibu, Riverside, San Bernardino, Victorville and surrounding Charter areas in Southern California, the network said.
No subscriber numbers were provided for the So Cal launch, but the network’s overall subscriber count has risen above 25 million. The channel is touting its in-depth coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, complementing CBS Sports’ exclusive live game broadcasts.
ESPNU gained carriage (channel 251) on the Cox Communications digital lineup in Alachua and Marion Counties in Florida, an addition of 106,000 homes. The network noted the new carriage agreement has an immediate impact on Cox’s Gainesville/Ocala-area customers who can see the Florida Cram Session featuring 10 hours of University of Florida Gators-related programming on Feb. 22 beginning at 8 a.m. ET. The Gators are the reigning NCAA men's basketball champs.
ESPNU is currently available to approximately 20 million households nationwide.
