CBS Sports is teaming with Comcast Corp. and Bresnan Communications to deliver high-definition, video-on-demand content tied to the upcoming men’s Division 1 college basketball tournament.
Comcast and Bresnan are the first operators to sign up for the "March Madness" VOD package, which will feature advertising-free customized highlights for the 63 tournament games, which tip off March 20, plus archival vignettes. The content is available free to cable operators and their subscribers, according to CBS College Sports Network officials.
Available in both standard and HD formats, the March Madness package, produced by CBS Sports and CBS College Sports Network and featuring talent from the service formerly known as CSTV, will showcase recaps of every game, along with select post-game interviews and team press conferences.
Moreover, the exclusive VOD content also features fully produced "NCAA March Madness Memories" that are available in both formats. Each program will include moments from 25 of the greatest games from previous tournaments, pulled from archived NCAA game and related footage. The vignettes will be available to customers, beginning early next month.
“Video on demand and high-definition content are top priorities for MSOs,” said Tony Petitti, executive vice president and executive producer of CBS Sports, in a statement. “CBS College Sports Network and CBS Sports are delivering exclusive, compelling programming that has never been available before, as well as leading the way in serving fans with more options, access and control. We’re thrilled operators are taking advantage of the opportunity to provide their customers with the coverage they crave for the NCAA tournament.”
