Campbell, Cho Tapped For VH1 Series

New Slate Is First Under Olde's Leadership

Move over Flavor Flav – there’s a new aging rap star getting his own reality show on VH1.

Onetime 2 Live Crew member Luther Campbell will star in his own celebreality series Luke’s Parental Advisory, one of several new projects green-lit Thursday by the network. VH1 has ordered eight 30-minute shows examining Campbell’s life in which he juggles raising a pair of teenagers and running his adult entertainment business.

The shows are the first to be green-lit under the leadership of Jeff Olde, VH1’s executive vice president of programming and development. Olde took over for Michael Hirshhorn, who left VH1 in January Michael Hirschorn to start up a new production company Ish Entertainment.

Margaret ChoAlso on the VH1 docket is The Cho Show, which stars comedian Margaret Cho and chronicles her interpretations with her friends and her parents over seven half-hour episodes.

 The network will also debut offshoots of its popular series I Love New York and Hogan Knows Best:

New York Goes to Hollywood, stars Tiffany “New York” Pollard as she seeks an aTiffany Pollard Aka New Yorkcting career. VHI has ordered 10 half-hour shows. 

Similarly, there will be 10 half-hour Brooke Hogan Knows Best episodes, chronicling Brooke Hogan as she leaves the family nest of her famous wrestler father and strikes out on her own.

The network will also premiere several new original documentaries, notably The Night James Brown Saved Boston, which chronicles the Godfather of Soul’s April 1968 Boston concert, the night after Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination. Appropriately, VHI will air the 60-minute film on April 5, 40 years and one day after the civil rights leader was killed.

Under the “VH1 Rock Doc” moniker on June 7, the network will present Elton John: Me Myself and I, which looks back at the key moments in the singer/composer’s legendary career. 

On March 31, Snoop Dogg is the subject of the latest installment of the VH1 Storytellers franchise.
