'Little People' Season Debut Plays Large For TLC

Household Delivery Is Net’s Highest Since 2004 ‘Trading Spaces’ Special

The third-season return of Little People, Big World came up large with the Nielsens for TLC.

The first half-hour episode of the new campaign on March 3 at 8 p.m. drew 1.83 million households and 2.65 million viewers, including 1.33 million adults 25 to 54, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Little People, Big WorldThe second installment at 8:30 p.m. that night delivered 3.46 million watchers on average, with 1.77 million of the aforementioned demo. The 2.35 million households marked the most ever for Little People and the best on TLC since an April 2004 special, Trading Spaces: Home. Free, according to network officials. 

The reality shows tracks the six-member Roloff family, whose parents, Matt and Amy, and a son, Zach, have Dwarfism.

The first of 26 episodes this season scored respective gains of 35%, 34% and 48% relative to total viewers, households and the demo, compared with the series’ second-season debut on Oct. 22, 2007.

The advances were even larger for the second episode, which registered increases of 52%, 60% and 42% against those measures from the season-earlier installment.

For the premiere runs of the 20-episode second season, Little People averaged 1.46 million viewers at 8 p.m., 1.96 million at 8:30 p.m. and 1.68 million in the hour combined, according to TLC officials.
