Time Warner Cable “soft launched” caller ID on TV to about 50,000 subscribers in its New York City footprint, the biggest market to date where the cable company has introduced the feature.
Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley said the operator began offering caller ID on the TV in the fourth quarter of 2007 and will regularly expand availability to the rest of its New York/New Jersey territory.
Caller ID on the TV is free to customers with both residential phone and digital cable service from Time Warner Cable. The feature displays incoming call information on a subscriber’s television screen, and allows a user to access a history of 10 most recent calls on the TV screen. Customer can also choose to turn the feature off.
Other markers where Time Warner Cable has deployed caller ID on TV include San Antonio, Texas; Columbia, S.C.; and Rochester and Albany, N.Y.
Cablevision Systems in November rolled out Caller ID on iO TV across its service area to customers of the operator’s triple-play bundle. The operator had 1.6 million Optimum Voice subscribers as of Dec. 31.

The caller I D on the t.v. is a good idea, except let me tell you how to improve it........It just jumps up there for about one telephone ring then goes away. If I''''m in another room of the house, I can''''t run in the room to see it because it will already have disappeared. If I''''m in the same room as the t.v., but across the room, I may not get turned around fast enough before it goes away....
Please put the caller ID on the t.v. for a longer period of time......Like as long as the telephone rings would be the best idea !!!!!
