TiVo inked a deal with Google's YouTube that will let its digital video recorder customers watch soccer bloopers, Japanese music videos, something called "Vampire Robot Nazis Strike Back!" and thousands of other user-uploaded clips on their TVs.
To access the feature, which the companies said would be available later this year, TiVo owners must have their DVRs hooked up to a broadband connection.
TiVo users will be able to log into their YouTube accounts directly from their TiVo DVRs and access their YouTube playlists and favorite channels.
"Being able to make available YouTube videos to the TiVo subscriber base using one device, one remote and one user interface is another major step in our commitment to combine all of your television and Web video viewing options in one easy to use service," TiVo general manager of content services Tara Maitra said, in a statement.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. YouTube has a similar agreement with Apple to let
on their television sets.
