Comedy Central and South Park Digital Studios Tuesday announced the launch of southparkstudios.com, a new Web site that will feature free, full-length episodes from all 12 seasons of South Park.
A beta version of the site launched Wednesday and has already received more than 3 million page views and viewers have viewed more than 1 million streams of full episodes, network officials said.
South Park Digital Studios is a joint venture between SouthPark creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Comedy Central.
“We got really sick of having to download our own show illegally all the time so we gave ourselves a legal alternative,” the co-creators said in a statement.
Southparkstudios.com lets viewers choose from 168 of the 169 SouthPark episodes that have aired on Comedy Central. Due to contractual obligations, all new episodes will be available “as soon as possible” after they premiere on the network, officials said.
New episodes will remain available for seven days and then return to the site permanently 30 days after they premiere. The site will also serve up extensive behind-the-scenes video and information from all 12 season, allowing fans to see all their favorite South Park moments, comment on them and share them with friends.
Now in its 12th season, SouthPark remains the network’s highest-rated series.
