Former CableLabs chief scientist and ex-Comcast engineer Jason Gaedtke will join peer-to-peer Internet TV startup Joost at chief architect on March 31, he confirmed in an e-mail.
Gaedtke spent only about four months at Louisville, Colo.-based CableLabs, where he was in charge of Internet research projects on peer-to-peer architectures and other technologies. Before that, he was chief architect and fellow for Comcast Interactive Media.
Over the next few months, Gaedtke said, he will be splitting time between Joost’s offices in New York and Leiden, a city in The Netherlands near Amsterdam, before relocating to New York.
Joost has content-distribution agreements with Viacom and CBS—which are also investors—as well as PBS, Major League Baseball, Turner Broadcasting System and Warner Bros. Television Group.
