Broadband Reclamation
Cox Communications
Omaha, NE
Cox Omaha was in need of bandwidth. Competitors touted they had more high definition channels than Cox and Cox did not have the capacity to launch additional channels. At the same time, Cox had six analog access channels on the air and research told us that very few people used or watched the channels. Cox needed to convince the City Council to allow for consolidation of the access channels without opening the franchise for renewal, as that process could take years and it needed bandwidth within months. Ultimately, Cox Omaha succeeded by reclaiming bandwidth without having to renew the franchise, launching new high definition channels and minimizing other franchise obligations.

“Recipe for a Community” – Cox’s 2006 Annual Report
Cox Communications/Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV
It is increasingly difficult to create materials that capture the attention of significant business and community leaders. Cox Las Vegas set out to develop a uniquely-themed Annual Report that portrayed the company as an integral part of the community while providing government-required information related to customer service and overall company operations. The theme “Recipe for a Community” was selected for the report with the desire of creating a warm, inviting document that resembled a Betty Crocker or Better Homes & Garden cookbook. The document and its homespun creative packaging have proven to be very memorable, thereby distinguishing Cox Las Vegas as an important part of the community.

National Teen Summit on Internet Safety
Cox Communications, Inc.
Atlanta, GA
Strategic partnerships with celebrities, government officials and nonprofits have helped Cox Communications raise awareness about the importance of Internet safety and media literacy. Working with children’s advocate John Walsh and Miss America 2007, for instance, the company held a National Teen Summit on Internet Safety and met with key Senators and Representatives to educate them about the importance of comprehensive safety education. Cox’s efforts have generated significant media coverage and kudos from lawmakers.
