Couric On Her Way Out At CBS: Report

‘CBS Evening News’ Anchor Could Be Departing Early Next Year

Katie Couric’s run as the anchor of the ‘CBS Evening News’ will likely come to an end shortly after the presidential inauguration next year, according to a Wednesday report in the Wall Street Journal.

Ratings for the nightly news program lag considerably behind rival newscasts on ABC and NBC, despite the extensive hype that surrounded Couric’s arrival from NBC’s ‘Today’ morning show in June 2006.

Couric is currently under contract through 2011.
