TV Guide Rebrands VOD Service

TV Guide Network On Demand Takes SPOT's Place

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 4/21/2008 5:25:00 AM

TV Guide Network has renamed its on-demand service, TV Guide SPOT, as TV Guide Network On Demand, officials said Monday

The new name better reflects the offerings of the service, which provides more than 32 million digital cable viewers with entertainment-focused original content and highlights of the most popular programming from TV Guide Network, according to the company.

TV Guide Network On Demand will offer an increased volume of content delivered to the network’s distribution partners on a weekly basis with an extra hour each week, officials said. TV Guide Network On Demand’s distributors include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, Cablevision, Mediacom, Insight and Verizon.

In addition, TV Guide Network On Demand is developing original content and acquiring programming that will increase the network’s cache of programs to appeal to a wider audience base.

In May, TV Guide Network On Demand will offer “minisodes” of Making News: This Just In, an original follow-up mini-season to TV Guide Network’s docu-reality series Making News: TexasStyle. TV Guide Network On Demand has also ordered original comedy from popular Internet musical comedians Rhett & Link, which will feature their unique comedic look and spoofs of the popular series, Hannah Montana and Lost.
