MLBAM, Ensequence Reconnect

Three-Year Extension Covers Award-Winning MLB.TV Mosaic

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/1/2008 1:43:00 AM

MLB Advanced Media, LP and Ensequence have reached a three-year extension on their partnership that delivers the Emmy Award-winning MLB.TV Mosaic.

Ensequence and MLBAM have been working together over the past three years on baseball’s broadband service and launched an enhanced version of the product with the Opening Day of the 2008 season.

Powered by Ensequence, the MLB.TV Mosaic affords fans more ways to watch the sport on their computers, including a completely interactive, and video-rich user interface. This season, users are witnessing higher-quality video and 16:9 video feeds, as they choose from a comprehensive selection of live, final and preview games at the top of the screen. Using the exclusive drag and drop feature, fans view up to six live games at once and personalize their video mosaic configuration. To watch a game full-screen, viewers just double-click on the live video.

“Since 2006, we’ve worked with MLB.com to create new technologies to support their business objectives and make the fan experience more immersive. We’re consistently pushing the boundaries of where fans can take their interactive TV viewing experience with the MLB.TV Mosaic,” said Ensequence CEO Dalen Harrison in a statement. “Our three-year contract demonstrates the commitment MLB and Ensequence have to continue to partner in delivering the most exciting sports application on the Web.”

Noted MLB.com senior vice president Justin Shaffer: “When we set out to develop the MLB Mosaic, one of our key objectives was to create a truly unique interactive television experience, which would allow our passionate fans to watch baseball in a whole new way. Ensequence has been a valuable partner in helping us achieve this goal. Ensequence has pushed the envelope on what we have been able to create, and in some cases invented new technologies to meet our needs. Today, MLB is the only sports league able to deliver such an immersive experience.”
