SiTV Hires Firm For Latino Outreach

Ibarra & Associates Brought In To Help Build Election Excitement In Latino Community

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 5/1/2008 10:57:00 AM

Sí TV, which targets young English-speaking Latinos, has retained the Washington D.C. government relations and public affairs firm Mickey Ibarra & Associates to support outreach to Latino community leaders across the country.

Ibarra & Associates will help Sí TV to leverage its partnership with Voto Latino to motivate young Latinos to participate in the political process via Crash the Parties, a new initiative that kicks off with a nationwide search for two young Latinos to cover the Democratic and Republican National Conventions as reporters for Sí TV.

“We are excited to work with Sí TV on building support for the network and advancing its mission to inspire, empower, and entertain young English-speaking Latinos,” Mickey Ibarra, president Mickey Ibarra & Associates, said in a prepared statement.  “Additionally, we are proud to promote Sí TV’s partnership with Voto Latino.”

Submissions for Crash the Parties are under way at www.crashtheparties08.com as well as events that are taking place in San Diego, Phoenix, San Jose, El Paso, Sacramento and Chicago.

Public voting begins May 7, and a panel of judges, including actress and Voto Latino co-founder Rosario Dawson, former U.S. Representative from Texas Henry Bonilla, the DNC Hispanic Caucus’ Ramona Martinez, CNN’s Rick Sanchez, YouTube’s Steve Grove, Craigslist’s Craig Newmark, and MySpace’s Lee Brennan, will evaluate the top five candidates from each of the party submissions to select the winners.

Sanchez will also mentor the young reporters, providing media tips and expert advice on interviewing the party nominees and others. They will report from the conventions, live and online, offering their perspectives on the candidates, election and issues. The winners will be announced at a press conference in Washington in July hosted by Sí TV and Voto Latino.
