Ion Media Networks reached a carriage deal for its channel suite—its broadcast network and digi-nets—with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative, which serves a market of more than 10 million homes, officials said Monday.
The NRTC is an organization of more than 1,400 rural utilities and affiliates in 47 states.
As part of the agreement, the NRTC may offer its member affiliates the Ion Television Network, which airs a mix of TV series, movies, sports and specials targeted towards a broad audience as well as Ion’s 24-hour linear digital networks; qubo, a children’s network focusing on values and literacy and Ion Life, a channel focusing on active living and personal growth.
“This agreement with Ion truly demonstrates our commitment to quality programming,” NRTC CEO Bob Phillips said in a prepared statement. “Ion Media Networks has established an outstanding reputation for its commitment to excellence and we are proud to offer NRTC members the opportunity to offer Ion Television, qubo and Ion Life to their subscribers.”
