Interactive TV Exec Donoghue Back At Cablevision

Leaves Rival Time Warner Cable After 18 Months

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/9/2008 11:30:00 AM

After a stint at Time Warner Cable, interactive-television pro Patrick Donoghue is returning to Cablevision Systems.

Donoghue will start at Cablevision next week as senior vice president of strategic product development, Cablevision vice president of media relations Jim Maiella confirmed.

In November 2006, Donoghue left after six years at Cablevision—where he most recently was vice president of ITV and broadband development—to head up Time Warner Cable’s interactive television strategy.

At Cablevision, he was responsible for the complete redesign and development of the operator’s iO digital cable service, including the user interface and set-top box development.

Donoghue, reached by e-mail, directed inquiries to Cablevision public relations. Time Warner Cable did not respond to requests for comment.

When Time Warner Cable announced Donoghue’s hiring a year and a half ago, senior VP Bob Benya called him “one of the industry's foremost experts on interactive television.”

Before he originally joined Cablevision in 2001, Donoghue oversaw business development for ExtendMedia. Prior to that he worked at Showtime as a Web designer, as well as Viacom, where he built prototypes of ITV applications in the early 1990s.
