By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 5/12/2008 4:42:00 AM

Midcontinent Communications will launch the Ion channel suite on its systems in North Dakota, South Dakota and western Minnesota, officials said Monday.

Midcontinent will continue to carry the Ion Television Network and roll out Ion’s 24-hour linear digital networks: qubo, a children’s network focusing on values and literacy and Ion Life, a channel focusing on active living and personal growth.

“We are committed to providing quality content to our subscribers, and this launch of the Ion channel suite reinforces that strategy,” Tom Simmons, Midcontinent’s senior vice president of public policy, said in a prepared statement. “Ion Media Networks has established an outstanding lineup of quality programming, and we are proud to offer their networks to our subscribers.”

Ion Television’s daily programming lineup includes family fare like The Drew CareyShow, Mama’s Family, The Steve Harvey Show, Family Feud and Quantum Leap, and  RHI Entertainment award-winning movies and original miniseries, such as Lonesome Dove and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
