2008 CABLE SHOW: Canoe Chief To Be Named June 1

Comcast COO Burke Says Exec Has Been Selected

By Tom Steinert-Threlkeld -- Multichannel News, 5/19/2008 10:35:00 AM

NEW ORLEANS -- The chief executive for the cable industry's interactive advertising standards-setting initiative known as Project Canoe will be announced June 1.

While not naming the executive, Comcast chief operating officer Steve Burke said Monday morning at the 2008 Cable Show that a new chief executive has been selected, and the leader will be announced on the first day of next month.

One possibility: Aegis Media Americas CEO David Verklin, who stepped down in April. Verklin was reported by AdAge.com last month as the group's choice.
