By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 6/9/2008 7:21:00 AM

Fox Networks Group Monday named Erik Moreno senior vice president of corporate development.

Moreno will now assist in identifying new business and strategic opportunities across Fox Entertainment, as well as work on acquisitions, joint ventures and other related opportunities that could include News Corp. units.

The FNG Business Development Group has helped support many of the major strategic initiatives at the company these last few years including: the MySpace and IGN acquisitions; Big Ten Channel; Jamba mobile joint venture; Hulu (online video start-up with NBCU) and most recently the MySpace Music joint venture with the major music labels.

FNG, a News Corp. unit, consists of Fox Broadcasting, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports and Fox Networks Engineering and Operations.

Moreno will be based in Los Angeles and report to Michael Lang, FNG’s executive vice president of business development and strategy. He joins FNG after having served as director of corporate development with eBay since 2006. While at eBay, he was an integral member of the team responsible for all merger and acquisition activities, equity investments and large business development transactions across the eBay businesses (Marketplaces, PayPal and Skype).

Moreno also gained responsibility for international transactions, having negotiated deals in China, India, Germany, Turkey, Thailand and Denmark.

Prior to working at eBay, Moreno served as vice president in corporate development and strategy at Level 3 Communications, leading the company’s strategic planning, merger and acquisition activities, and large business development transactions of its European subsidiary in London.

He began his professional career on Wall Street, working for investment banking firms Bear, Stearns & Co. and Gleacher & Co. Moreno earned a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Cara, have a daughter, Francesca, and reside in Los Angeles.
