ABC, ESPN Syndicate Video To Veoh

‘Grey’s,’ “SportsCenter Right Now’ Among Available Programs

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/23/2008 11:33:00 AM

Internet video aggregator Veoh Networks is now offering full episodes from ABC and short-form online video content from ESPN.com.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Veoh now features sports highlights through an embedded ESPN video player as well as original ESPN programming, including SportsCenter Right Now, a twice-daily recap of top stories and breaking news.

In addition, Veoh will provide access to ABC.com's broadband player enabling users to watch full episodes of programs, notably Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Jimmy Kimmel Live and UglyBetty. Veoh will also offer select short-form programming from ABC via an embedded short-form player, which will launch on the site later this year.

”We’re excited to bring high quality content from ABC and ESPN to Veoh’s highly engaged users,” Matt Murphy, Disney and ESPN Media Networks senior vice president of digital video distribution, said in a statement.  “This deal expands the distribution of our quality programming through our own broadband players, growing the reach of our advertisers while maintaining their direct association with our powerful network brands.”

Veoh, based in Los Angeles, has raised a total of $69.5 million in four rounds of financing from investors including Intel, Adobe Systems, Time Warner Inc., Shelter Capital, Spark Capital, Goldman Sachs, Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company, and former Viacom executives Tom Freston and Jonathan Dolgen. http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6567330.html
