SAG-AMPTP Update: Union Reps Talk But Nothing’s Changed

Both Groups Tightlipped After Latest Round of Discussions

By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 7/16/2008 4:45:00 PM

Members of the Screen Actors Guild met with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for two hours Wednesday, but the contract situation is as unresolved now as it was before the meeting.

The two groups each issued a statement indicating that they had agreed to keep private the topic of the meeting.

SAG added it would have no further comment while AMPTP representatives said that no further meetings have been scheduled.

SAG's current contract expired on June 30. AMPTP has offered a contract with benefit improvements, including some payments for new media uses, that is similar to the one already approved by writers, directors and the other actors union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA).
