By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 7/20/2008 8:01:00 PM

FearNet has inked a video-on-demand distribution deal with Time Warner Cable, bringing its horror-themed lineup up to 29 million digital cable homes.

Time Warner Cable adds 8.4 million potential viewers for the VOD network, jointly owned by Comcast, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate. The MSO also boosts FearNet’s presence in the country’s two biggest markets, New York and Los Angeles.

FearNet is also carried by Comcast, Cox Communications, Insight Communications and Verizon's FiOS TV.

Time Warner Cable is expected to launch FearNet by Aug. 1 in all markets, available in the Cutting Edge and Free Movies sections of the operator’s VOD service.

Through the end of March, FearNet said, its VOD channel and the FearNet.com Web site have delivered more than 160 million video views since the network’s launch in October 2006.

The network carries feature-length horror and thrillers and also has featured original programming, such as miniseries produced by Ghost House Pictures, whose backers include director Sam Raimi.
