Oxygen Orders Third Season Of 'Bad Girls'

Women’s Service Also Picks Up Dance Competition Series

Oxygen is breathing more life into its series lineup.

The NBC Universal women’s-targeted service has ordered a third season of its most popular original series, The Bad Girls Club, and picked up a new reality competition show, Dance Your Ass Off.

From Bunim-Murray Productions, the third season of The Bad Girls Club will bring seven new bad girls together in a beautiful Hollywood mansion, where the women will try to live together despite their issues with anger, trust and control.

The series sophomore season was the most-watched Oxygen original series ever, averaging 595,000 18-to-49 watchers, a 31% increase over the first season. All told, premiere installments average 791,000 total viewers with the Feb. 19 episode the first to surpass the 1 million mark.

“This show is truly a hit – and we can't wait to deliver another season of all the conflict, laughs and drama that The Bad Girls Club is known for,” said Oxygen senior vice president of development and programming Amy Introcaso-Davis in a statement. “These women are complicated – they are emotional and extreme, but underneath it all they have heart.”

Oxygen will bring dance, diet and divas together with the pick-up of the new reality competition series Dance Your Ass Off, in which will full-figured contestants who struggle with their weight will dance to unleash their inner thin.

Teams will get a new dance challenge each week that helps them sweat off those extra pounds. They will also learn how to incorporate healthy cuisine into their lifestyle. Each episode culminates with a weigh-in and dance-off.

Scheduled to premiere on Oxygen in 2009, Dance Your Ass Off will be executive produced by Sally Ann Salsano (495 Productions).
