SportsNet New York, the cable television home of the New York Mets, registered its top game of the 2008 season with the Amazin’s contest Wednesday night.
The July 23 affair, the Mets beat their National League East rival, the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-3 to gain a share of the division lead, averaged a 5.0 rating in the New York DMA. That performance translated into 486,000 total viewers on average, including the network’s best-ever mark with adults 25 to 54 (a 3.0) and men 25 to 54 (a 4.8) since it launched in 2006.
The July 23 telecast, which came the same day at the network announced a multiyear deal with the Big East conference for college basketball and football action, topped the July 22 contest, which averaged a 4.9 household rating, according to network officials.
The Mets beat the Phils, 3-1, in today’s matinee at Shea to gain first-place in the division.
