By R.Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 7/30/2008 6:05:00 AM

The National Association for Multi-ethnicity In Communications has assembled a roster of senior cable and diversity executives to appear at a Diversity Town Meeting event as part of the organization’s annual Conference in September.

Among those scheduled to speak during the Sept. 16 town hall meeting in New York, which was created to stimulate dialogue on multi-ethnic diversity and inclusion: Comcast Corp. executive vice president David Cohen; BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra Lee; Scripps Networks president John Lansing; National Cable Television Association president and CEO Kyle McSlarrow; A&E Television Networks president and CEO Abbe Raven; TV One president and CEO Johnathan Rodgers; and DiversityInc co-founder and partner Luke Visconti.

The meeting will also focus on the results of NAMIC’s 2008 Employment Research survey, which tracks minority executive employment within the industry.

“We are privileged to produce a town hall session which features such an illustrious group of our industry’s thought leaders and advocates of diversity,” said NAMIC president Kathy Johnson in a statement. “These executives recognize the contribution that an ethnically inclusive workforce and supplier base make to the growth of the industry at-large."

The meeting will kick of the 22nd Annual NAMIC Conference, which will be held Sept. 14-16 at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.

More than 100 executives are expected to participate in the conference agenda, including Scripps Networks Interactive Group president Deanna Brown, Time Warner Cable Media Sales president Joan Gillman and journalist & syndicated columnist Roland Martin.
