Versus Kicks Off Expanded College Football Slate Aug. 30

Network Adds 'Versus College Football Central' Studio Show

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 8/6/2008 7:55:00 AM

Versus continues to build its college football roster.

The Comcast Corp.-owned network will televise 23 games from the gridiron this season, up from 19 in the 2007 campaign and nine the prior year.

This year’s slate included eight games from the Mountain West Conference and five apiece from the Pac-10, Big 12 and Ivy League. For the first time since it kicked off with the sport in 2006, the network will launch Versus College Football Central, which includes a dedicated halftime show during each game called the Sears Halftime Report as well as pre- and post-game shows on select telecasts. The studio shows, hosted by Ted Robinson and Roland Williams, will originate from the network’s high-definition studio in Stamford, Conn.

Versus kicks off its 2008 college football schedule on Saturday, Aug, 30, with a Mountain West Conference showdown between TCU and New Mexico at 6 p.m. (ET).

Other key contests include several pre-season ranked teams such as UCLA at BYU on Sept. 13; BYU at TCU on Oct. 16; USC at Stanford on Nov. 15; Oregon at Oregon State on Nov. 29; and the 125th anniversary of “The Game,” whenYale visits Harvard Nov. 22.

The network’s entire college football schedule is available on www.versus.com
