AMC Breaks In With ‘Cinemania’

Trivia Competition Will Air During Commercial Breaks On Thursday Night Flicks

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/7/2008 2:36:00 AM MT

AMC will bridge its commercial breaks with a cinema trivia competition.

Beginning tonight with The Birdcage and every Thursday, AMC will air "Cinemania," a new game show and movie event that will air between the breaks of the featured film that night.

Hosted by comedian Regan Burns (Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Ellen DeGeneres Show), Cinemania will pit two die-hard movie fans who will vie for prizes by answering trivia questions about the night’s film, including video challenges with clips from the theatrical itself.

The contestant correctly answering the most questions about actors, specific quotes and other details from the movie is crowned the “Cinemaniac” of the night. Viewers at home also have an opportunity to compete for prizes by visiting www.amctv.com during the movie and participating in the “Cinemania Online Challenge.”

In August, the show will feature special appearances by the stars of two featured films, including Clint Howard of Apollo 13 on Aug. 14 and Bruce Altman of Matchstick Men on Aug. 21. The other film on tap in August: Tomorrow Never Dies.
