MediaFLO Adds CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News To Mobile Lineup

Live Channels' Coverage Available On AT&T, Verizon Wireless

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 8/25/2008 6:09:00 AM

On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, Qualcomm’s MediaFLO USA subsidiary has added NBC Universal’s CNBC and MSNBC and News Corp.’s Fox News Channel to its mobile TV service, which is available to AT&T and Verizon Wireless subscribers.

All three channels will offer simulcast programming -- airing content at the same time as it appears on cable -- and will give consumers on-the-go access to many of the most popular news shows on cable TV, including CNBC’s Squawk Box and Power Lunch; MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Hardball with Chris Matthews; and Fox News’s The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes.

MediaFLO USA's mobile TV service is available to AT&T subscribers as AT&T Mobile TV and to Verizon Wireless customers as V Cast Mobile TV.

Neither carrier has disclosed how many mobile TV subscribers it has.

Other news programming carried by MediaFLO USA's mobile TV service includes CBS News on CBS Mobile and NBC News on NBC 2GO. In addition, AT&T provides a full-time CNN Mobile channel channel through the MediaFLO network.

The MediaFLO network is available in 58 major metropolitan areas nationwide, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
